After a closely contested first round, Galavo scored a 2nd round armbar victory over Metcalf.

Throwdown provided the 20ft event series octagon for the Fighting 4 Kids event.

The bout adds to the already stacked middleweight grand prix on September 23 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

The event will air live stateside on HDNet.

The event, whose proceeds go to the Shriner's Hospital of Los Angeles, was attended by Quinton Jackson, Josh Koscheck, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza (who cornered Galvao), Thomas "Wildman" Denny and Anthony Johnson. 

The main event of the evening featured muti-time Brazilian Jiu-jitsu world champion Andre Galvao vs Strikeforce vet Jeremiah Metcalf. Making his highly anticipated pro MMA debut, Galvao did not dissappoint the crowd, defeating Metcalf in the second round via armbar (see pic below).

Who:  All grapplers, wrestlers, Jiu-Jitsu and Judo competitors, etc.
Location:  Throwdown ETC, 1640 South State Street, Orem, Utah
When:  Saturday, September 20, 2008
Weigh-In:  Weigh-in will be held the night before from 4:00pm to 8:00pm or at the event from 9:00am to 10:00am (WEIGH-IN CLOSES AT 10AM)

Division: Most Divisions will start at 11:00am and will run in the following order

Kids Division (age 7-12)

Teen Boys Division (age 13-17)

Women’s Division (age 13+)

Master’s Division (age 30+)

Novice Division (< 6 months experience)

Beginner Men Division (< 2 years experience)

Intermediate Men Division (2-5 years experience)

Advanced Men Division (5+ years experience)

Competitors: $50 All Adult/Teen Divisions, $45 Kids Division
Spectators: Adults $5, gym members and kids 12 and under are free


Volunteers

We need 10 referees and can use any others who would like to help in other ways.

Referees will rotate in on the 6 mats (there is no scoring, so your job is pretty easy). Referees need to show up by 10:00am and will ref in shifts from about 11:00am-4:00pm.


Other Volunteers will help on three shifts

Registration Shift will help register and weigh-in competitors and help make brackets: 8:00am-11:00am

Early Event Shift will help make brackets and then keep brackets in order and aide the referees: 10:00am-2:00pm,

Late Event Shift will keep brackets in order and aide the referees and will help clean up at the end: 1:00pm-5:00pm
